Streaming Youtube Videos, how will it Change our Second Life?

In the last week many of us discovered, by reading the Second Life blog, how easy is to stream Youtube Videosinworld.

Now Caffe Freud and Elegua became a Multi Media Center, with tens of movies all around, on art & psych, health,

mental health, science, religion, infos and news.

I'd like to discuss with you, at our Caffe Freud Sunday meeting, if and how is all this changing our metaverse

experience.

Let's continue our Travel! The idea of that 1995 movie is very strong. Back to the future is the idea that our Future determines, modifies, our present time, so our Present time has the ability to tranform our Past, in Psychoanalysis we'd speak of 'reelaboration'. Maybe, discovering the Past coming back to Future, is a great resource, we could start to explore, more in this 'beyond the reality' virtual world. Trama
L’agente pubblicitario Roger Thornhill (Cary Grant), arrestato per aver guidato in stato di ubriachezza, racconta alla polizia una incredibile storia. Mentre si trovava in un albergo di New York, era stato rapito da due uomini, portato nella villa di un certo Townsend, interrogato, costretto a bere del whisky e spinto in un’automobile da corsa per farlo morire in stato di ubriachezza. Thornhill ricorda che i suoi rapitori si rivolgevano a lui chiamandolo George Kaplan.

La polizia fa indagini, ma non giunge ad alcun risultato. Intanto Thornhill viene a sapere che un Townsend si trova nel palazzo dell’Onu. Il Townsend che si trova lì non è, però, quello che ha incontrato nella villa. Il loro colloquio viene interrotto in modo tragico quando Townsend viene pugnalato a morte dai suoi rapitori. Approfittando della confusione, Roger fugge a Chicago, dove spera di incontrare George Kaplan, dal quale potrà avere qualche spiegazione. In treno incontra Eva Kendall (Eva Marie Saint) e questa fa in modo che la polizia rinunci a seguire Roger. Un gruppo di agenti segreti del governo americano segue con interesse gli sviluppi della vicenda in cui è implicato Roger…

Caffe Freud Grand Opening at Elegua, SL in Altra Milano

Caffe Freud opens in Altra Milano, at Elegua SL

Next Sunday Meeting will be at Elegua, where you all are invited to visit the new little town all around the Caffe Freud (Altra Milano, with a Brige to the NYC block), enjoying swimming in the canal (Naviglio Grande) and sailing with the canoas. You’ll find there two big theatres, that can be useful to host our future meetings.

This Sunday, October 7 2007, will be free. I’ll be anyway at the Caffe from 8 am SL Time, free chatting. Next regular meeting will be at Elegua on Sunday 10/14/2007 at the same time, leaded by RDaneel Okelly.

Il Caffe Freud si apre ora in Altra Milano, a Elegua SL, con un immaginario ‘ponte’ che la collega a New York City, la città virtuale creata da Cheri Bing.

Qui si terranno i prossimi incontri della domenica, alle ore 17.

La prossima domenica, 7 Ottobre, è dedicata alle libere chiacchiere e alla visita della città, dove è possibile nuotare nel Naviglio Grande, andare in canoa e a teatro, in uno dei due grandi teatri che serviranno per gli incontri affollati!

Linda Gross, Ph.D. is a psychoanalyst with a private practice in Manhattan. She is a training and supervising analyst and has also served as an instructor at the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis, where she also serves on the board of the American Board of Certification of the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis. She is a co-founder of the Women's Financial Network and the Women's Analytic Forum. Her "true passion in life is attending theatre," according to Atlantic. "She has been fascinated by the stage since the age of four, when her parents took her to see Where's Charley? and she got to visit with Ray Bolger in his dressing room following the performance. Linda and her husband Daniel are also avid collectors of contemporary art. She currently serves on the boards of Atlantic Theater Company and the Shakespeare Society."

Strega Nona, which means, "Grandma Witch" lived in a little town called Calabria in Italy. She was famous for her magic spells she used to help the townspeople. Strega Nona was getting old so one day, she decided to hire Big Anthony to help her keep up her house and garden. Strega Nona warned Big Anthony never to touch her magic pot, but after seeing Strega Nona magically make a dinner dish of noodles from it, he couldn't resist the temptation! Soon afterward, Strega Nona left town to visit a friend and left Big Anthony in charge of watching her house- finally he had the chance to show the townspeople the magic pot! When Strega Nona returned home, she found the town in a crazy mess and had to somehow fix the problems that Big Anthony created!

When Anthony fools with the magic pasta pot but can't figure out how to turn it off, pasta threatens to engulf the whole town -- unless Strega Nona and her young apprentice can save the day.

Will Neuroscience Identify Also What We Do Not Think?

The Neurobiologic Routs Of Defense Mechanisms

A group of investigators from the University of Magdeburg and Zurich have described the current knowledge about neurobiologic bases underlying defense mechanisms in a review published in the May issue of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics.

Current progress in the cognitive and affective neurosciences is constantly influencing the development of psychoanalytic theory and practice. However, despite the emerging dialogue between neuroscience and psychoanalysis, the neuronal processes underlying psychoanalytic constructs such as defense mechanisms remain unclear. One of the main problems in investigating the psychodynamic-neuronal relationship consists in systematically linking the individual contents of first-person subjective experience to third-person observation of neuronal states. The Authors therefore introduced an appropriate methodological strategy, 'first-person neuroscience', which aims at developing methods for systematically linking first- and third-person data. The utility of first-person neuroscience can be demonstrated by the example of the defense mechanism of sensorimotor regression as paradigmatically observed in catatonia.

Combined psychodynamic and imaging studies suggest that sensorimotor regression might be associated with dysfunction in the neural network including the orbitofrontal, the medial prefrontal and the premotor cortices. In general sensorimotor regression and other defense mechanisms are psychoanalytic constructs that are hypothesized to be complex emotional-cognitive constellations. In this paper the Authors suggest that specific functional mechanisms which integrate neuronal activity across several brain regions (i.e. neuronal integration) are the physiological substrates of defense mechanisms. They conclude that first-person neuroscience could be an appropriate methodological strategy for opening the door to a better understanding of the neuronal processes of defense mechanisms and their modulation in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The New York Psychoanalytic Society is the oldest psychoanalytic organization in the United States. It was founded in 1911 by Dr. Abraham A. Brill and a small group of like-minded colleagues, who were excited by and committed to the revolutionary discoveries of Sigmund Freud and his students. Training in psychoanalysis was rather informal until 1931 when the Society established the New York Psychoanalytic Institute. It was the first psychoanalytic training center in the United States, and it has had a long and distinguished history. It was here that major advances in psychoanalytic theory and practice were made. The Institute was the professional home of many of the best known analysts of their time. These included Kurt Eissler, Heinz Hartmann, Ernst Kris, Rudolph Loewenstein, Charles Brenner, Margaret Mahler, and many others...

The analyst helps elucidate these for the patient, who refines, corrects, rejects, and adds further thoughts and feelings. During the years that an analysis takes place, the patient wrestles with these insights, going over them again and again with the analyst and experiencing them in daily life, in fantasies, and in dreams. Patient and analyst join in efforts not only to modify crippling life patterns and remove incapacitating symptoms, but also to expand the freedom to work and to love. Eventually the patient's life - his or her behavior, relationships, sense of self - changes in deep and abiding ways.
